Library Services Discontinued
The onsite library support services at Riverview Hospital were discontinued on March 31, 2010. However, the library collection will be moved meaning the resources will continue to be available to staff, patients, and others.
Library Services were historically provided through Riverview Hospital, but as tertiary mental health services transfer to the regional health authorities as part of the Riverview Redevelopment Project, it will now be necessary for information and materials to be accessed through alternate sources.
The Riverview Redevelopment Project is a provincial initiative to build capacity for specialized mental health services within the regional health authorities - bringing care and services into communities and closer to families, services and local health resources.
The overall intent is to transfer the book, journal and audiovisual collections to other libraries (health authority, academic, professional colleges, advocacy organizations and/or public libraries) where they can continue to circulate and be of benefit to the maximum number of people (healthcare professionals, students, patients and families) in the Lower Mainland and BC in general.
The BCMHAS membership in the BC Academic Health Council's Electronic Health Library of BC (e-HLbc) will be maintained to support online database access for all staff and physicians.
