What we do
The Infant Psychiatry Clinic team uses evidence-based practice to assess, treat, and serve the developmental, social and emotional needs of young children, from birth up to their sixth birthday.
Treatment includes a multidisciplinary assessment, consultation, and short-term intervention. The clinic also provides leadership in clinical research, academic and clinical training and teaching, and parent education, and promotes an awareness of infant mental health in the community. We accept the full range of conditions including, but not limited to, autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anxiety disorders, attachment disturbances, behaviour problems, developmental delays, mood disturbances, and regulatory difficulties. After our assessment and consultation is complete, families who require long-term intervention are directed to resources in the community. A written referral from a physician is required for placement in the program. The clinic team meets weekly to review the referrals and determine priority. Families who are not placed in the program are redirected to appropriate services in their home community.
