 Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy Study

Have you experienced Clinical Depression in the past?

Would you like to learn a new approach to preventing future depression?

If you are a PSHA employee between the ages of 18-65 and you have had at least 2 previous episodes of depression, you may be eligible to participate in a research study of Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT).

MBCT is a meditation based treatment that has been shown to reduce depressive relapse rates by almost 50% compared to a wait-list control. This treatment is demonstrated to be comparable in effectiveness to maintenance antidepressant medication.

Eligible participants will choose one of four MBCT treatment methods:

  • In-Person Group MBCT
  • Online Group MBCT
  • Individual Face-to-Face MBCT
  • Individual Telephone-Based MBCT

These sessions will be held for 2 hours 1x/week for 8 weeks with group treatment, or 1 hour 1x/week for 9 weeks with individual treatment. Each participant will also take part in a pre- and post-assessment session, each lasting approximately 2.5 hours.

In return for your participation you will have the cost of your treatment covered.
