  • To gain insight from a parent about their struggle in getting kids with mental health challenges get back to routines after the summer
  • To hear from a paediatrician sharing her work experience in how to help the children with mental health concerns to develop better sleep hygiene for preparing them back to school in Sept after the long summer holiday

My eating disorder: Why it's a part of my life and ideas of how to change.

For 17 years and older struggling with disordered eating and wanting to gain a better understanding of the role/function of their eating disorder. The group will discuss :

  • Way to udnerstand why an eating disorder is part of a person's life
  • Thoughts about change and the factors that influence readiness to make changes
  • Specific strategies people use to cope differently
  • Myths around health and eating

Date: ongoing
Time: 6:30 till 8pm
Location: 601 West Broadway 6th floor (one block west of cambie)
Cost: covered by the Looking Glass Foundation

Summer Institute 2010

The BC Mental Health and Addiction Services and the BC Teachers Federation are collaborating in organizing the 2010 Summer Institute to address the mental health and substance use issues among children and youth in BC schools.


        Date: Aug 26 Thursday

Time: 8:30 -4:30am

Topic: Understanding Anxiety, Eating Disorders, Self-Harm, use of alcohol and drugs


Location: Chan Centre Auditorium at BCCH

Cost: Free

Target audience: educators and anyone interested in mental health and substance use issues among child and youth in BC schools either in person or webcast.
