Patient Services & Activities
Support for daily living
It’s obvious that Riverview and the Forensic Psychiatric Hospital provide psychiatric, medical, dental and rehabilitation care. But patients and residents can also get support with the personal activities of daily living. Some examples are:
- Personal effects and communication
- Financial management
- Meals and nutrition
- Clothing and laundry
- Hair grooming
Information on daily living services can be obtained from the Manager of Clinical Services for the respective programs, and from members of the patient's treatment team.
Social, education and other activities
Riverview patients and residents have access to numerous ongoing social, educational and religious activities. The Pennington Hall Clubhouse ("Penn Hall"), Pastoral Care Services and the Learning Centre organize many activities, and Library and Life Enhancement programs are available in different parts of the hospital. For more information, contact the individual treatment team.
Forensic Psychiatric Hospital provides many of the same services at Colony Farm. In addition, FPH patients who are in open custody are able to access many of the Riverview services, such as Penn Hall.
Team work for good treatment
Every patient's or resident’s stay at Riverview or FPH involves a treatment team. It usually includes doctors, nurses and a social worker, psychologist and pharmacist, and rehabilitation staff. Other team members may include dietitians, chaplains and vocational counselors. Also considered members of the treatment team are family members and friends who choose to get involved. Find out how to do that by contacting the Manager of Clinical Services for the appropriate program.
